As part of the EQUIMOB project, the Delhi CityLab seeks to explore the manner in which everyday urban spaces in Delhi could be made inclusive for marginalized groups through equitable access to transport infrastructures. These infrastructures include facilities offered by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and app-based transport services such as Ola and Uber. The access to these facilities are gated by social barriers such as gender, class and disability and hence may pose varying sets of constraints and have varied impacts on women, the urban poor and the differently-abled. In order to capture these, the catchment of data for the Delhi CityLab will include the experiences of university students, market consumers, hawkers, vendors and daily commuters of public transport especially women including women using app-based transport services. In addition, the experiences of women cab drivers, pump attendants and toll plaza workers will be collected in order to explore whether feminizing these critical points in the urban transport ecology can have any redemptive effect on gendered mobility choices.
