EQUIMOB: Inclusive Cities through Equitable Access to Urban Mobility

Project Objectives

This project takes a people-centred approach to understand how urban mobility can be made more inclusive towards marginalised and vulnerable groups in India and Bangladesh.

The research questions are:

  1. What are the physical and socio-cultural barriers in the urban transport system that reduces vulnerable groups’ access to work, healthcare and education?
  2. What measures are available to ensure accessible, affordable and safe urban public transport?
  3. What people-centric interventions in urban mobility infrastructure can be co-designed to improve safety, acceptability and affordability?
  4. How can knowledge exchange between various stakeholders in urban mobility make transport infrastructures in cities more inclusive?
