Dr. Shanawez Hossain

Associate Professor

Dr Shanawez Hossain is an Associate Professor and Head for the Urban, Climate Change and Environment (UCCE) cluster at BIGD, Brac University. He is also Director for the Executive Development Center. He is involved with a number of research projects funded by. He has held research, teaching and consultancy positions at Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), Waseda University, Japan and various non-government organizations including World Bank, UNDP, Cities Alliances, DFID, SDC etc. His research broadly focuses on the areas of urban governance and service delivery; traffic governance and urban mobility; inclusive growth and quality of life (QoL); regional integration and Asian Century etc. He has a PhD major in International Development and Policy Studies and M.A. major in Economic Development and Infrastructure both from Waseda University, Japan. He also has post-graduate degrees and training from United Nations University (UNU), Harvard Kennedy School and University of Berkley, California. He has presented research papers in several international conferences and has publications in reputed international journals.
